Each kit contains six orion flares, a bright orange safety vest for flare deployment and a storage case with flare pockets and vest holder. The double-zipped 600 denier polyester bag keeps flares together; Velcro on the back of the bag secures placement in trunk or under seat. More flares and longer burning flares ensure the consumer will be prepared for a true emergency. Orion Flares create a proven 'safety zone' around an accident or disabled vehicle. Placement of Orion flares cause a 16 per cent reduction in the speed of passing traffic, as well as cause 89 per cent of vehicles to change lanes (increasing their distance away from the accident/disabled vehicle). Also satisfies the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration DOT 49 CFR Part 393.95(f) requirement in place of three reflective triangles (subject to restrictions on vehicles transporting various explosive, hazardous or flammable materials). Safety Flares are also acceptable alternatives for most state tow truck carriage requirements.
